Detailed Enforcement Regulations (Second edition)

Detailed Enforcement Regulations of the Articles of Association
of the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology, a Nonprofit Organization
Article 1.
General rules
  1. This Organization (hereinafter the "Society") shall set forth the implementation of its Articles of Association and matters necessary for their implementation in these Detailed Enforcement Regulations.
  2. The Society shall separately set forth bylaws for individual matters that are important for its operation, and indicate accordingly in the Detailed Enforcement Regulations.
Article 2.
Committees
  1. The Society shall establish the following permanent committees:
    • (1) Finance Committee
    • (2) Bylaws Committee
    • (3) Election and Membership Committee
    • (4) Ethics Committee
    • (5) Scientific Program Committee
    • (6) Board Certification Committee
    • (7) Educational Committee
    • (8) Negotiation Committee
    • (9) Committee on Public Information (CPI)
    • (10) International Affairs Committee
    • (11) Health Insurance Committee
    • (12) Conflict of Interest Committee
    • (13) Nominating Committee
    • (14) Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee
    • (15) Annals of Oncology Editorial Board on a JSMO Site
  2. The Society shall establish bylaws for the operation of each committee as necessary.
  3. In principle, the Chair of each committee shall be a Director who is appointed by the President of the Board of Directors, JSMO by means of a resolution of the Board of Directors.
  4. In principle, the members of each committee shall be appointed from the regular members by the Committee Chair and the Chairs shall report the member selection to the Board of Directors.
  5. The term of office of a committee member shall be two (2) years, and reappointment of a committee member shall not be prevented. A committee member shall not be prevented from concurrently serving as a member of other committees.
  6. The Society may establish extraordinary committees, in addition to the aforementioned permanent committees.
Article 3.
Members
  1. Admission rules shall be separately stipulated for admission, withdrawal, and admission and membership fees of Members, Student and Supporting Members.
  2. Honorary Members
    • (1) Honorary Members are individuals or organizations that have been recognized by the Board of Directors to have made outstanding contributions to the field of clinical oncology (Articles of Association, Article 6).
    • (2) Candidates for Honorary membership may be non-members of the Society.
    • (3) The names of candidates for Honorary membership shall be notified by Members or Senior Councilors to the Board of Directors.
    • (4) The Board of Directors shall determine the eligibility of candidates for Honorary membership and consult with the Board of Councilors and general Assembly.
    • (5) The status as an Honorary Member shall be established by the Society's nomination for Honorary membership and acceptance by the individual or society, requiring no other procedures.
    • (6) Honorary Members shall not be required to pay a membership fee.
  3. Senior Councilors
    • (1) Senior Councilors are previous Members who have been recognized by the Board of Directors to have made outstanding contributions to the Society (Articles of Association, Article 6).
    • (2) The following conditions are required for recommendation as a Senior Councilor:
      1. The candidate shall have served as an Officer, Councilor (for 10 years or more) or president of an Annual Meeting (representative organizer in the case of a study group), or have performed comparable services.
    • (3) The names of candidates for Senior Councilor shall be notified by Members or Senior Councilors to the Board of Directors.
    • (4) The Board of Directors shall determine the eligibility of a candidate for Senior Councilor membership and consult with the Board of Councilors and General Assembly.
    • (5) The status as a Senior Councilor shall be established by the Society's nomination for Senior Councilor membership and acceptance by the individual or society, requiring no other procedures.
    • (6) Senior Councilors shall not be required to pay a membership fee.
Article 4.
Officers
  1. The procedure for selection of candidate Officers shall be separately stipulated.
  2. Candidate Officers shall be approved by the Board of Directors then by the Board of Councilors and appointed by the subsequent General Assembly.
  3. The retirement age of Officers shall be 65, and Officers shall resign on the last day of the annual General Assembly following their 65th birthday.
Article 5.
Councilors
  1. The term of office for Councilors shall be two (2) years, and reappointment of a Councilor shall not be prevented.
  2. The retirement age of Councilors shall be 65, and Councilors shall resign on the last day of the annual General Assembly following their 65th birthday.
  3. Councilors shall organize the Board of Councilors to review matters relating to the Society's operation and submit a report in response to inquiries from the President.
  4. The operating procedures of the Board of Councilors shall be separately stipulated in the bylaws for the Board of Councilors.
Article 6.
Annual Meetings
  1. The Society shall hold Annual Meetings.
  2. The president of Annual Meetings (hereinafter the "president") shall be responsible for the management of Annual Meetings.
  3. The current vice-president shall serve as the president of the following year based on the approval of the General Assembly.
  4. Selection procedures of the president and vice-president shall be separately stipulated.
  5. The operating procedures of Annual Meetings shall be stipulated in the bylaws for Annual Meetings.
Article 7.
Certification Program
  1. The Society shall be engaged in training and certification of Diplomates, Subspecialty Board of Medical Oncology, JSMO.
  2. The Society shall hold academic meetings and training seminars as a training program for the Diplomates.
  3. The Board Certification Committee shall operate the certification of the Diplomates.
  4. The procedures for training and certification of the Diplomates shall be separately stipulated.
Article 8.
Amendments and changes to the Detailed Enforcement Regulations

The President shall make amendments and changes to the Detailed Enforcement Regulations by means of a resolution by the Board of Directors.

Article 9.
Supplemental provisions

These Regulations shall come into effect on March 20, 2008.
The revisions of these Regulations shall come into effect on March 20, 2008.
